It is a respected field. Most fields are respected but architect holds a special place on most people’s hearts. This is one reason in film and television main character who is shown to be a respectable and upstanding person is usually an architect (Mike Brady?). Most likely the reason being people don’t see them as being driven by financial rewards as other professions.

You gain a greater understanding of society around you. Architecture is essential to any developed society. Just like engineers they are involved in not only buildings but roads, towns, cities, airports and while the engineers sort the nuts and bolts the architect make it affable to the peoples of society. As you study these areas you learn more about the function of the world around you.

Earn less than other fields with the same input. Architecture requires the same amount of effort as law or medicine but you will not get paid the same amount once working. If money is your sole motivation then pick another field.

Economic volatility will affect your career.  Fluctuations in the economy impact the property market which in turn impacts the architectural field. Income isn’t as reliable as other fields.
