Right wing pros and cons
What are the advantages and disadvantages to having a right wing government in place?
Hold freedom in the highest regard. Throughout human history the greatest misery people faced was the oppression of one group by the other. The western and democratic revolution said liberty above all else because it is the first and necessary step towards prosperity.
pro
Allows for opportunity and self-determination. Less regulation on people, business and groups means more freedom for progress to occur. Often times steps forward are held back due to laws and regulations put in place by bureaucrats.
pro
Religious freedom. The right are not opposed to religious expression and understands how important peoples faith is too them and society. Under right wing governments religious institutions are protected and prosper.
pro
Worse for crime. The right have a tough stance crime which focuses on punishment and criminalisation. This has been shown not to work and in fact creates an environment that spawns more criminals and social ills.
con
Discriminatory policies. Minorities and women have never been the priority for social equality under right wing governments. These issues conflict with economic and nationalist policies the right consider to be more important.
con
Policies often detrimental to economy. GDP and jobs since WW2 have grown faster under democrats than republicans. The government hoarding money doesn’t help the economy, pumping money back into the working class through social services creates a ‘trickle up’ effect and a strong economy.
con
More gung-ho on war. Military might and nationalism is a strong tenet of right wing politics. Where most would see armed conflict as a last resort the right often see it as an only option.
con
Protects traditional values. As society progresses it is easy to lose touch with who we are. Our traditional values are in high regard to the right because it has worked in the past and it is part of our identity.
