Maintenance is cheaper. The auto transmission is an expensive piece of equipment especially when it requires maintenance. Fluid changes are half that of auto and the manual gear boxes last a lot longer than their counterparts as well.

More control. Manual drivers have greater control over the car because they work the gear changes and clutch and don’t have a machine to do it for them. This is safer in a way because you are more reliant on you own judgment.

Distracting. The more you focus on the gears and engine the more you cannot focus on what is happening on the road around you.

Cannot keep two hands on the wheel. Constantly changing gears means you cant always have two hands on the wheel which isn’t very safe.

Difficult to drive. With the auto transmissions you have to only worry about brake and pedal. With manual you also have to change gears meaning you keep track of the revs, work and time the clutch and take off which can lead to stalling if not performed correctly.
