What are the upside and downside to french cuisine?

Sophisticated dining. If you want a dinner to be special and memorable or just to satisfy the elitist in you, French cuisine is synonymous with fine dining. French dishes are complicated, elegant and delicious. The use of exotic ingredients and obscure methods to ensure a unique and pleasurable dining experience.

Expensive. You wont find cheap French food.

Dairy. Dairy is becoming less and less of the health food people thought. Also the high caloric content of dairy can make dishes unnecessarily fattening. French cuisine uses milk, cream and butter liberally.

Flavour. French food is never lacking in flavour since they use a lot of butter, olive oil, salt and sugar. They’re choice in main ingredients is exceptional too creating delicious dishes.

High fat. Liberal use of butter and even healthy fats like olive oil will push your fat intake high. Some say that high fat content does not have ill effects on health but it does on weight management and obesity is the biggest health risk at the moment.

Some dishes are extremely healthy. There are vegetable heavy dishes like ratatouille and a lot of heart healthy seafood dishes as well. Salads like nicoise provide many healthy ingredients. Red wine is commonly consumed with meals which has been proven to promote good health.
